Heathrow to Central London: The Chauffeur Route, Explained

Which terminal, which road, how long it really takes — and why a pre-booked car turns the Heathrow run into the easiest part of your trip.

Heathrow to Central London: The Chauffeur Route, Explained

Heathrow is five airports in one

Terminal 5 alone is longer than most city centres, and the drive into London changes completely depending on where you land. A transfer booked in advance starts with that single fact: your chauffeur knows the terminal before you do.

From Terminal 5 to Mayfair you are usually looking at 45 to 60 minutes outside peak hours. From Terminal 4 to the City, closer to 55. On a weekday morning between 07:30 and 09:30, add twenty minutes and expect the M4 to behave like a car park.

Where the driver actually waits

After customs, in the arrivals hall, with a name board. Not at the kerb, not in a short-stay car park two lifts away. That distinction matters when you are arriving with three suitcases and a tired child: you walk out, you see your name, you are done.

Your chauffeur tracks the flight number you give us. If you land early, the car is already there. If you are delayed three hours, the waiting time does not turn into a surcharge at the end.

The luggage question

A standard executive sedan takes three large cases comfortably; a fourth usually means a van. Heathrow's luggage trolleys stop at the arrivals barrier, so someone has to move everything from the belt to the car — that is what the chauffeur is for. Tell us the suitcase count when you book and the right vehicle arrives the first time.

What the fixed price covers

Fuel, the congestion charge, motorway tolls, airport parking and the waiting time included in your booking. The number you see when you reserve is the number you pay — no meter, no night tariff, no card machine that suddenly does not work.

A small piece of advice

Book the pick-up for thirty minutes after landing rather than for the landing time itself. Immigration at Heathrow is unpredictable, and a chauffeur who starts the clock when you walk out saves you both the awkward conversation.

Coming back

For the return leg, three hours before departure is the safe rule from central London, four if you are crossing the city first. We confirm the pick-up time with you the day before, and the reminder arrives on your phone before the driver does.
